Laura Montgomery

Philanthropists' Council Member

Laura Montgomery is the Managing Director of the Ellis Campbell Group, a family owned property investment office. She qualified as a solicitor in 2005 at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and joined the Ellis Campbell Group in 2007 and co-founded C2 Capital Limited with Julian Carey in 2009. Laura is a Trustee of the Ellis Campbell Foundation where she recently initiated an intensive strategic review programme for the Trustees to improve the Foundation’s impact. Laura is a passionate believer that Foundations and philanthropists have a duty to ensure they are doing thoughtful grant making and having the greatest impact and is keen to bring others along on this journey. She is also a Trustee for another unrelated family Trust. Laura is married and has three young daughters.

Cath Dovey CBE

Co-founder

Cath is a co-founder of the Beacon Collaborative and is the lead coordinator for a number of the activities. Formerly a co-founder of Scorpio Partnership, the global wealth management strategy and research firm, she led the firm’s high-net-worth and strategy research capabilities for two decades. In the field of philanthropy, Cath headed Scorpio Partnership’s global research work with major donors, family givers and family foundations. Cath chairs Rosa, the UK fund for women and girls, and is a trustee of Philanthropy Impact.

Catherine Grum

Board Member

Catherine is head of Family Office Services at BDO. She advises families and family offices around family office establishment, family governance and philanthropy. She believes that when families understand their values and the purpose of their wealth, they can build on much stronger foundations and, by aligning their structures and activities with this, create sustainable long-term solutions.

She has worked with enterprising families for over 15 years, gaining a unique perspective from the combination of roles she has held. This has included heading a private office and sitting on the board of three international trust companies (Salamanca Group) and coordinating wealth structuring with investment management (Barclays Wealth). This all built on her training as a private client lawyer at Allen & Overy.

Recognized as a thought-leader in the family office industry, Catherine has previously been named as one of EPrivate Client’s 50 Most Influential and is one of Family Capital’s Top 100 Family Influencers 2020. She has written, spoken and been interviewed on topics ranging from next generation planning to impact and sustainable investing.

Catherine has an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University, is a Trust & Estates Practitioner and holds an Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising (STEP).

Pauline de Souza

Pauline de Souza is the founder and director of Diversity Art Forum, which is now in its 16th year as an art funding organisation, nationally and internationally, that involves working directly with organisations on projects as well as providing funding. She is a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London in the Visual Arts Department, where she works with all creative areas in programming/curating the Cultural Manoeuvres Programme, as well as working with Fine Art and Graphic Design students. She is a Fellow of the Advance Higher Education Academy. The Advance Higher Education Academy

is a British professional accredited membership scheme for those who provide evidence of excellence in learning and teaching in Higher Education. She sits on the University of East London Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Committee.

Mark Davies

Philanthropists' Council Member

Mark Davies is the Managing Director of PJD Property a company focused on commercial investment and development in Manchester. He is also director of a number of companies including Howz, which is a digital healthcare company and invests in innovative start up businesses.

Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1987 and worked in private practice as a commercial litigator until 2002.

He is a trustee of the Philip J Davies Family Charitable Trust and works with charities on focused projects with the aim of forming partnerships to achieve their goals. He feels that there is a responsibility for us all to be philanthropic.

Mark is married with four children.

Leonie Taylor

Board Member

Leonie is a co-founder of Resource Justice, a UK group that organises young people with access to wealth and class privilege to redistribute their resources to social justice movements. She is part of the Facilitation Team at LEAP, a pan-European collective that funds activists and social entrepreneurs to create systemic change in society. She is also a co-founder of the Feminist Men Project, which curates workshops and events to engage men on feminism and gender equality. Her work background has been in academia and the charity sector, working on a variety of roles in the domestic violence sector and for women’s rights. She has a MSc in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics from Cambridge.

Tanya Chiwuoke

Tanya is our systems superstar who brings a wealth of expertise and experience with her from 13 years as an International Operations Manager at Christian Aid.
